My name is Nefeli. I was born and raised on Zakynthos — the most beautiful island in the Ionian Sea (and yes, I will defend that statement anywhere).
While others spent summers in cities, I grew up watching the sun dissolve into the Ionian Sea from cliff tops that take your breath away. I swam in hidden coves that felt like secrets. I fell asleep to kantades drifting through village streets on warm evenings.
This island was never just a holiday destination to me. It was — and is — home.
Now I want to share it with you. Not the brochure version. The real one.
About Nefis Travel — Our Story
Nefis Travel is not just a company to me. It is my family’s life’s work.
My mother did not arrive on Zakynthos looking for a quiet life in the sun. Before this island ever became home, she had already seen much of the world, as a singer, a storyteller, and a traveler who believed that places should be felt, not consumed. Zakynthos was not an accident. It was a decision.
She saw something here that others missed. Not just beauty, but potential. Potential to show the island differently. To move away from mass tourism and create experiences rooted in music, mythology, authenticity, and real human connection. When she met my father, Takis, a true Zakynthian with the island in his blood, Nefis Travel was born. Not as a business idea, but as a philosophy.
I grew up inside that philosophy.
I grew up seeing guests cry when they saw their first sea turtle. I watched couples fall in love with the island the way my parents did, not loudly, but deeply. I learned that travel is not about ticking boxes. It is about feeling something real.
